really liked what they saw: Birds and bees,
flowers and trees. Nice, spacious houses.
Grass, clean air and sky.
All of a sudden folks realized
Stittsville wasn’t far away from things at
all. In fact, quite the opposite was true.
The village actually had the things they
were looking for – an enticing mix of city
convenience and village charm, plus all
the bells and whistles.
Soon another nice neighbourhood
sprang up. And another one. In what
seemed like no time, the once tiny,
bucolic farming outpost of mere hundreds
out in the sticks had transformed
into a chic, dynamic, prosperous community.
Metkin Akgun was part of that big
move to Stittsville. He arrived in the
1980s and has never looked back.“I used
to live in Crystal Beach,” he explains.
“We wanted a bigger house.” So the
hunt was on and it included Kanata, but
when Akgun arrived in Stittsville, well,
that was it.
“We liked the builder.The houses we
liked. The location we liked. People knew
each other here.” And all those good
things haven’t changed, he suggests. ‘We
still like it.”
