megram - Indexmegram - Guide To Spring Fun In Ottawa's West End - Indexpated. Maple season is a special time and the syrup is as
sweet as ever.
At least 30 gallons of sap must be boiled down to produce
one gallon of syrup and, since the sap is boiled the
same day it’s gathered, the air in the sugar camp smells
heavenly.
A feast for the senses, it’s also Canada’s claim to international
fame.

This country makes the vast majority of the world’s
maple syrup, producing millions of gallons each year. It
comes from the sap of sugar maple and black maple trees.
And heading out to the sugar bush is part of the annual
magic.
Spend a day at the sugar bush.
We all look forward to the fun and families travel to
Eastern Ontario from far and wide to enjoy the related
events, activities, attractions and – of course – maple
delights.
It’s a celebration you don’t want to miss.
There are sugar bush tours, tree tapping demonstrations,
wagon rides or horse-drawn sleigh rides, pancake
breakfasts and traditional meals featuring everything
from homemade sausages to maple baked beans. You can
often hike through the sugar bush on nature trails and
enjoy the wonders of nature as you work up an appetite.
Then it’s time to stop for some treats, such as maple taffy
on snow, maple fudge or maple candy or maple butter or
maple brittle. And don’t forget to purchase some authentic
syrup so you can enjoy a taste of spring on your pancakes
and ice cream at home.
