Spring Ahead
with Vigour
After the dark days of Ottawa’s winter, every March is beloved. But
arguably the most euphoric spring came this year after record snowfalls
and many hours of shovelling. It is rejuvenating to see the first
crocus peeking through the ground, urging us to wake up and come
out to play.
As this issue came together months ago, we started to reflect on
what it is about spring that makes people want to plant, take on a new
habit, start a different exercise routine — or simply carry out those
plans that began before the snow fell.
We had barely asked the question when we thought about food.
Our regular contributor and food guru Pam Collacott has featured
some yummy yet practical dishes using foods from the season to kickstart
your spring menu planning.
Of course, being spring, we have some extra special features on
gardening, how to stage your house for re-sale and ideas on how to
embrace a healthy lifestyle.
We always have stories about the plethora of arts and culture activities
in this great city, so be sure to check out our celebration of people
who are giving back to their communities. Our updated restaurant
guide will also help you plan where to eat after that soccer game.
Coming in summer, watch for some great ideas on how to buy
and flip a house, renovate that nook or cranny that’s been driving you
crazy all these years, and much, much more.
Get out and enjoy this great weather and great city of ours. And,
if you have a minute, please write us with your thoughts. We’d love to
hear from you.
We're particularly excited to let you know that as of this issue
you'll be able to view the entire issue of Due West and Due East
online. Check out coylepublishing.com for a full version of this
magazine.
