The community group Art
Ottawa East (AOE) has been a tireless
advocate for the construction of this
cultural facility. The Orleans Arts
Centre will also house a 152-metre
state-of-the-art theatre, a 100-seat studio
theatre, rehearsal studios for
music and dance, and a new media
arts space.
“This is a great day for the arts
and the entire community,” says
AOE executive director Christine
Tremblay. “Finally, artists and arts
groups from all disciplines will have
a venue in the east end where they
can come together and grow. It will
be a dream come true.”
The Orleans Arts Centre is part of
a larger development called the
Orleans Town Centre. It is being developed
on 7.7 hectares and is scheduled
to be completed in 2009.
