Finding your inner James Brown; I feel good!
I realize how much I have been blessed.
The kids are grown and I’m nearing retirement. I have the gifts
that really matter: a great family and good health. I have more
than I need. I’ve been thinking it’s time to create a legacy, to
give back and transform the future.
Television brings despair into our homes these days, telling us
the world really is a global village.Thankfully, I can help children
halfway around the world through Save the Children. I’ve supported
them through the years. I know my gifts have real
impact. They tell me exactly where my donation went, and who
it helped. They have integrity in financial accounting. That’s
important to me. Save the Children has been around a long
time. I like that. I know I can trust them with my hard earned
dollars.
I recently gave a large gift of securities to Save the Children. I
was concerned about capital gains tax as I had that stock for
many years. The transaction was easy and it eliminated the capital
gains tax. Best of all, children in crisis benefited directly from
my gift.
My spouse and I decided to provide education for an entire
community in Kenya. We made another securities donation,
and then included Save the Children in a Will bequest that will
live on long after we’re gone. We did it this way for two reasons:
to eliminate tax immediately, and to reduce estate taxes
later. Save the Children has put the money to good use, and our
Will bequest will make the world a better place. It feels good!
I slept in a bed last
night. I’ve never been a
child soldier. I’ve never
been abandoned,
abused, kidnapped, sold
or forced into hazardous
work at a young age. My
heart is touched…It’s
time to make a difference.
I say yes to
changing the world
now.
