Doors Open Ottawa offers exciting
weekend of discovery
Ottawa opens its doors June 7 and 8 with a chance to visit
over 100 buildings of architectural, historical and functional
significance. This event offers new features to those who want
to explore many of Ottawa’s best-kept secrets. Doors Open
Ottawa has gone green this year, highlighting environmentally
friendly spaces within our city. The exciting weekend of discovery
also includes a citywide scavenger hunt. This hot new
trend, called geocaching, will take treasure hunters from building
to building to uncover little known sites. In six years, Doors
Open Ottawa has attracted over 300,000 visitors to admire
and learn about the architecture of churches, embassies and
historical buildings in the area. There are several new participating
buildings this year, including the Embassy of Armenia and the Great Canadian Theatre Company – Irving Greenberg
Theatre Centre. Doors Open Ottawa is a success every year due to its volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, log on to
ottawa.ca/doorsopen to register and for a complete list of participating buildings.
