Governor’s Walk
offers retirement living at its best
You’ll be proud and happy to live at
Governor’s Walk.
This lovely retirement residence beckons
with its warm, gracious ambience, friendly,
professional staff and uplifting lifestyle. A
20-piece jazz band performs at the popular
annual strawberry social. Residents enjoy
Victorian teas and summer barbecues with
family and friends on the rooftop patio. In
fact, families in the community enjoy coming
to Governor’s Walk, thanks to its relaxed,
homey atmosphere. Children, grandchildren
and friends of all ages are invited for a wide
variety of memorable occasions, including
ice cream socials, afternoon teas, Halloween,
Christmas parties and, of course, the famous
Sunday brunch.
Come for a visit. There’s an open house
each Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and General
Manager Linda Meek would be delighted to
welcome you.
Just steps from the picturesque Rideau
River and New Edinburgh Park, Governor’s
Walk is situated in a charming residential
setting on the edge of Rockcliffe. Originally
constructed as a friar’s residence, the building
itself is striking. It boasts high ceilings,
lots of windows and one-of-a-kind touches,
such as original frescos, period antiques and
a fully restored original chapel. Easy to get
used to, the surroundings are eye-pleasing
and the atmosphere is relaxed.
But the plentiful amenities here are
what make for a truly wonderful retirement
lifestyle. You’ll relish delicious meals with
choices to suit your liking. The tasteful dining
room features a grand piano, fireplace lounge
and a spacious patio. Refreshments and
snacks are always available and guests are
welcome.
Join friends for tea or take in a movie in
the home theatre room. The activity centre,
wellness centre, beauty salon, clubroom and
library/internet centre are a few of the other
on-site features. The authentic chapel is
absolutely gorgeous – and peaceful.
Outdoors, the grounds are welcoming
and, indoors, numerous suites have picturesque
views. From some, you can see the
parliament buildings. Others, on the penthouse
level, have private balconies, fireplaces
and kitchenettes.
Choose from a variety of suite models,
including studios, large studios and one-bedroom
suites. Many have fireplaces and some
have kitchenettes. All boast high ceilings,
crown mouldings, nurse call systems and
individual climate control. First thing you’ll
notice is how bright, spacious and attractive
the private living quarters are.
Supportive services include 24-hour
staffing and professional nursing seven days a
week. There’s a courtesy shuttle bus for
scheduled appointments and residents enjoy
outings to the opera, the ballet and other
attractions of interest. A sample activity calendar
includes everything from exercise classes,
the men’s club and games to cards, shopping,
special events and tea and cocktails.
At Governor’s Walk, you never have to
move again. In addition to retirement living,
a very attractive, separate, secured area has
been created for folks who are cognitively or
physically challenged. Every bit as inviting as
the rest of the superlative residence, this
area has its own living room and lovely dining
room, complete with pretty table linens,
and every room is private. There’s also an
excellent staff ratio 24 hours a day. Special
activities are offered to accommodate people’s
needs and residents who are able are
still involved in other activities as well.
Both respite care and trial stays are also
available at the residence. Governor’s Walk is
located at 150 Stanley Avenue. To arrange for
your personal tour, call 613 564-9255.
