The annual Festival of the Islands,
August 8 to 16, is a highlight of the year in
the area. A fun-filled event that celebrates
island living, it offers everything from
parades and barbecues to top rated entertainers.
The schedule includes an antique
boat show, a baby show, a belly flop contest,
a dog show, a golf tournament, fireworks,
an Idol of the Islands contest and a
mini poker run. There’s also a puppet show,
a salsa fest, a soapbox derby and a woodcarvers’
