Brockville
Live – Love – Laugh... in Brockville, City of the 1000
Islands, where you will find beauty, excitement and a
friendly community. There are so many things to see
and do with family and friends. Discover the rich heritage
of this unique waterfront city situation on the
banks of the mighty St. Lawrence River.
Explore the 1000 Islands. Enjoy professional
live theatre and entertainment. Get up close to the
islands on a guided kayak tour. Stay in style at an elegant
inn and have afternoon tea on the veranda of a
splendid mansion overlooking the St. Lawrence River.
You’ll be delighted by all the attractions.
The Brockville Arts Centre is a spot you don’t
want to miss. Dating back to 1858, it’s one of the
most distinctive, historic arts centres in the country.
Elvis – The Way it Was, a spectacular show starring
Elvis World Champion Steve Kabakos, is onstage July
9 and 10, followed by Stayin’ Alive – One Night of
the Bee Gees July 23 and 24. The Roy Orbison Story,
a musical tribute, is slated for August 6 and 7, with
The Magic of Ireland, featuring traditional Irish
dance, music and song, on the calendar for August
20 and 21. There are all kinds of enticing packages
– dinner theatre, hotel and theatre, even cruising and
theatre – to consider. Get your tickets early as the
summer’s first show was SOLD OUT! Check
www.brockvilleartscentre.com and call 1 877 342-
7122 for details.
Be sure to visit the gorgeous Edwardian landmark
that came about courtesy of Pink Pills for Pale
People. Senator George T. Fulford made his fortune
from the patent medicine he produced in Brockville
and he built a fabulous, 20,000-square-foot mansion
over 100 years ago. Today you can take one of the
popular guided tours at Fulford House, visit the tea
room, even go on a ghost walk. Check www.heritagefdn.on.ca
and call 613 498-3003 for details.
For an extraordinary holiday experience, take a
leisurely island tour – on the water – with the 1000
Islands Kayaking Company. It’s ideal for beginners
and the lunch is yummy. You’ll find out more at
www.1000ikc.om and 613 329-6265.
Truth be told, Brockville owns 16 of those 1000
islands – there for visitors to explore and enjoy! But
that’s not all you’ll enjoy here. Memorable 1000
Islands boat cruises, excellent scuba diving and fishing,
pleasure boating, water skiing and golf opportunities
are all at the ready. There are plenty of museums
and heritage sites, including Homewood
Museum, Brockville Museum and Canada’s First
Railway Tunnel.
Historic walking tours, concerts in the park and
Brockville Pipe Band concerts are events you might
want to take in. Canada Day celebrations, the first
annual Great Waterfront Trail Adventure, Automotion,
Brockville’s Waterfront Car Show August 3, Brockville
Ribfest August 8 to 10 and the Downtown
Celebration & Sidewalk Sale August 23 are other
highlights on the agenda.
Wonderful shopping and dining and captivating
accommodations – including beautiful Blue Heron
Inn – add to the appeal. You’ll love what this city has
to offer.
