Warning: UFOs in sight
If you’ve ever experienced those annoying, shadow dots seemingly
floating around in your field of vision, you have seen a UFO, an unidentified
floating object,in your eye.Usually harmless, these small pieces of tissue
in the eye, although sometimes briefly interfering with our vision, are
basically undetected. However, there is cause for concern if an increase in
floaters occurs. Floaters can signal a retinal detachment that can cause
vision loss or haemorrhaging due to diabetes or high blood pressure. If
you experience an increase in floaters, a sudden shower of them, flashes
of light in your eyes or obstruction to your vision, it’s best to check with
your optometrist or ophthalmologist to rule out anything serious.
Whole-grain label given seal of approval
At present, no regulated definition for what is considered “whole grain”
exists, however, to help health-conscious consumers target those food items
that do contain the whole grain rather than just refined grains, look for the
Whole-Grain Stamp on products. Whole-grain products include oatmeal,
brown rice, rye, cornmeal and farro. This seal of approval on packaging will
make shopping for healthier options that much easier.
