Enzymes are the “spark plugs” of life. They enable all
reactions to take place in the body and there are
there types; digestive, metabolic and plant based
enzymes.
Digestive enzymes, the first of the three types are manufactured
by our pancreas and are secreted during the
digestive process when cooked or processed food is consumed.
Any enzymes not used up during the digestive
process can be re-stored for later use as either a digestive
or metabolic enzyme. Metabolic enzymes, the second of
the three types, are those that enable reactions outside of
our digestive tract to occur such as piecing together genetic
material in our DNA to create new cells or the
repair/replacement of damaged cells. The third type of
enzyme, are those that occur in plant life and raw foods.
When we consume vegetation and raw foods, they contain
plenty of living enzymes to offer our body, thus allowing
our digestive enzyme production to take a break.
Life would not exist without the efforts of enzymes

and this fact plays an important role in one theory of
aging: the “free radical theory”. The “free radical theory” is
currently the most accepted theory of why people age. “It
suggests that free radicals – unstable, reactive molecules
with a free electron – seek to latch onto whatever they can
find. When they are not countered by antioxidant nutrients,
they may interact with cell membranes, fat molecules,
or tissue linings. Free radicals are generated by the
metabolism of oxygen and other chemicals. They are a
normal part of body function, and in and of themselves, are
not bad. But too many can result in damage throughout
the body.”
What does this really mean? With the consumption of
processed, cooked, highly refined foods, environmental
pollution, harsh cleaning and household products, a never
ending supply of air fresheners, personal care products
and all the other chemicals we come in contact with
everyday, creates free radical damage within our bodies. If
we do not have enough antioxidants (nutrients that fight
