Talented performers from around the Golden Horseshoe
team up under Artistic Director Rosemarie Maurice for two
offerings of Cool Cabaret in the Sizzling Summer at
Burlington’s Dofasco Centre for the Arts. The fun takes
place on August 27 at 2 and 7 p.m. and after each performance
the audience is invited to dance their troubles away
with the popular seniors’ band Side by Side providing the
sounds of classic pop music. Further information is available

PEEL REGION
Thirteen Chinese choirs perform Songs of Harmony on
July 5 at 1:30 p.m. at Hammerson Hall of Mississauga’s
Living Arts Centre. Each group performs three or four
pieces of their choosing,then all 13 choirs join together for
the finale to sing a popular song from China.Tickets are not
available on-line but can be purchased by calling the box

YORK REGION
The Red Barn Theatre at Jackson’s Point offers a variety
of entertainment this summer.For instance,a musical revue
entitled Vegas Knights features audience favourite Derek
Marshall July 3 to 29 impersonating the great entertainers
of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Accompanied by a seven-piece
band, Marshall presents Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy
Davis, Jr., Bobby Darin, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, Louis
Prima and Elvis Presley as the heroic knights who put Las
Vegas on the map.And one of the most popular comedies
written during the 20th century, Bernard Slade’s Same
Time Next Year, runs from July 24 to August 9.The play
follows the secret love affair of a couple who rendezvous
just one weekend a year over 25 years. Further information

Pickering is the venue for two series of concerts on the
shores of Lake Ontario as well as in a park setting.
Waterfront Concerts at Millennium Square Park feature
the Peter Smith jazz group on July 3, the Full Count Blues
Band on July 10, Black Fly Boogie on July 17, Bottom Line
vintage rock on July 24, pop performers Mic and Keyes on
July 31, The Brian Rose Little Big Band on August 14, the
rock and blues group Loose Wires on August 21 and drum
performances by Muhtadi on August 28. A series entitled
Treble in the Park livens up the summer at Esplanade
Park with The Brian Rose Little Big Band on July 6, The
Hemig Gospel Singers July 13, Joe Fischer’s Vegas show on
July 20, the Ragweed Jazz Band on July 27, good old country
twang with The Maple Creek Band August 3, Cutting &

Matthews singing traditional folk music, bluegrass, country,
pop and novelty tunes on August 10, the East York
Barbershoppers on August 17,the Celtic band Willomyst on
August 24 and rockabilly, country and good old rock-androll

Whodunit? The Case of the Novel Death is an evening
of interactive dinner theatre offered at Pickering’s Petticoat
Creek Community Centre on July 12 and 13.This event is a
fundraiser for Pickering Museum Village Foundation’s Hotel
Restoration Project.Tickets are $45 each and include dinner.A
tax receipt will be issued for a portion of the ticket
