Range you can embark on an exciting
gondola ride up Aonach Mor to breathtaking
views of the Highlands, the
Great Glen and Ben Nevis.
The nearby village of Glencoe was

MacDonalds were murdered by
Campbell soldiers. Just outside of
Glencoe, several forest paths take you
around Glencoe Lochan, a small lake
that looks suspiciously Canadian —
and for good reason. In the late 19thcentury
a Canadian, Donald Smith
(Lord Strathcona), lovingly planted
this forest with trees indigenous to the
Canadian Pacific Northwest. After
Smith and his wife, Isabella, had
moved to Scotland from Canada,
Isabella became increasingly homesick
for the forests of Canada; Smith
planted the forest so she’d feel at
home.
