Casselview Golf & Country Club, La Cité Golf Club,
Nation Golf Course, Outaouais Golf and Hammond
Golf. Outdoors enthusiasts will also enjoy camping
and hiking at Voyageur Provincial Park or bird watching
on the Alfred Birding Trail. Get on the Ottawa River for
a canoe or kayak excursion. Rentals are available in
Hawkesbury.
Agrotourism: Enjoy the bounty of the season with
just-picked strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and
blackberries, or pick your own fruits and vegetables at
one of our farms. Savour the famous cheddar and
curds at the St. Albert Cheese Factory, open seven days
a week. Stop at the Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market on
Saturdays or at Place des Pionniers in Hawkesbury to
meet local producers and stock up on freshness.
Great food: For regional cuisine at its best, try the
Sunday lunch at Mariposa Farm in Plantagenet, fine
dining at Le Petit Merlot restaurant in Casselman or
fine country dining at Entr’Amis in St-Albert. For a delicious
light lunch, L’académie du Gourmet in Embrun
features culinary workshops with invited chefs, food
tastings and a boutique. Relax with a gelato or drink on
the riverfront terraces at Le Café Glacé or La Terrasse
du Passant. Both are on John Street in Hawkesbury.
Heritage: The L’Orignal Old Jail offers guided
tours in the summer. Opened in 1825, it was the oldest
prison in operation in Ontario when it closed in 1998.
Visit the alcove-style cells that were witnesses to
inmates’ secrets for almost 175 years. Learn about the
evolution of punishments and treatments and
immerse yourself in the prison life of past centuries.

located in the village of L’Orignal. A free self-guided
walking tour is also offered.
The Higgison Tower in Vankleek Hill was restored
in 2006. A Climb to the top of the 52-foot tower enables
visitors to admire the beautiful scenery. The Keith Boyd
Museum in Russell boasts an amazing collection and
the Macdonell-Williamson House in Chute-à-Blondeau
is a national historic site.
