she said with a smile.“Lots of friends — good friends,
too.Your boss likes you, or at least she must like you since
you got a whopper of a raise last month; people call you
when they want advice.You are kind to animals,and all that
good stuff. But how do you really know what they are
thinking?”
I am sure that most of us, when we look in the mirror,
feel we are really nice people; compassionate, helpful, loving
partners, loving parents, loyal to our friends, hardworking,
not to mention kind to small animals...well, big animals
as well.

well done. If we are fortunate, we get positive feedback
from the other activities in our lives, volunteer work, whatever.
What we hardly ever get is constructive feedback as to
how we are really viewed by people, whether they be significant
others, friends, co-workers or general realm of
acquaintances.We often get the negative feedback, even if
it is a subtle snubbing or avoidance. Like Letters to the
Editor, they are often complaints not praise.
I recently read a great book called Tuesdays with
Morrie. In it a former student of a university professor
meets with his mentor and spends Tuesdays with him during
the long process of a degenerative disease that eventually
kills him.It is a touching story;one that made me aware
