Bloor-Yorkville Business Improvement
Area is hosting SANTÉ: Toronto
International Wine Festival from
May 5 to 10 at various venues in the
Bloor-Yorkville area of Downtown
Toronto.The event promises a kaleidoscope
of amazing vintages, worldfamous
winemakers, and celebrity
chefs in a venue that boasts some of
Toronto’s finest restaurants and shops.

Are you a rock star? Then the Royal
Ontario Museum wants you! No, you
don’t have to sing. Just bring in your
rocks, minerals, gems, fossils or suspected
meteorites and have them
identified at a ROM clinic on May 21
from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The clinic is
free with a general admission ticket
and no pre-registration is required.
However, no appraisals will be done
and the experts will only identify
materials, not manufactured items,
with the exception of jewellery, in
which case the stones will be identified
but no information will be provided
regarding their cultural signifi-
cance.The clinic will be held on Level
1, Classroom 3 at the museum, located
on University Avenue just south of

HALTON REGION
The Royal Botanical Gardens in
Burlington offers an impressive array of
events this month.“Spring into Bloom”
is the catchphrase for weekend visits to
the RBG Rock Garden on May 3 and 4
and May 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. Visitors are invited to celebrate
spring by viewing the colourful tulip
display, the gorgeous azalea collection
and the fresh green tips of new growth
on the evergreens.An added attraction
on May 11 is a full buffet brunch to celebrate

From May 17 to 19 and on the May
24/25 weekend, Spring into Bloom will
feature a lilac celebration with the
world’s largest collection of lilacs along
with entertainment and food kiosks.

YORK REGION
If you have a hankering to trace your
family roots, the Newmarket Public
Library at 438 Park Avenue is holding
a Genealogical Research evening on
May 6 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Fraser
Dunford, Executive Director of the
Ontario Genealogical Society, and
author of Municipal Records in
Ontario:History and Guide will deliver
a presentation on how to more easily
and effectively use municipal
records for genealogical research.

The Aurora Seniors Centre is
sponsoring two events this month

Choir will hold its spring concert at
the Centre from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

DURHAM REGION
The Pickering Museum Village
presents “Steam Up”on May 27 featuring
the many delights of spring. The
Gas and Steam Barn will be in full
operation and there will be live
music, wagon rides and a plant sale
by Bloomers and Britches, the
Heritage Gardening Club. The
Backwoods Players will present The
Knight’s Quest, which is included in
the general admission price of $5 for
adults and $4 for seniors and students.Children’s
tickets are $3 and an
entire family can gain access for $15.
Showtimes are at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.The
museum is located just off Highway 7
between Brock and Westney Roads in
the hamlet of Greenwood.
